Fox Motorsport returned to the British GT Silverstone 500 3 hour event, which it has competed in for the previous 3 years. Qualifying started well for the GT4 Ginetta with a quick lap set early on, unfortunately disaster struck on the second flying lap with the car retiring on track. The car was assessed by the team back in the pits and it was confirmed the car would no longer be able to continue qualifying as the engine damage was terminal.
The Ferrari 488 GT3 competing for the first time in the UK quickly adapted to the circuit, with combined time set by Marco Attard and Adam Carroll put the Ferrari P8 on the grid.
The team worked through the night to get the engine changed and the Ginetta started 51st on the grid and 16th in class. As the race started and the rain fell the Ginetta made good progress and was sitting 31st overall at the first driver change, the Ferrari also continued to impress on it’s debut climbing to 5th.
As the race neared the closing stages, the weather changed with the track starting to dry, tyre choice became a gamble and for a while the Ginetta led it’s class. Further showers gave those drivers who opted for slicks a tough time on track. The Ginetta finally finished after 3 hours 9th in class whilst the Ferrari claimed its first podium finishing 3rd.
