The Saudi Arabian national karting champion was joined by fellow car racing newcomers Archie Bullard and Enzo Rujugiro at the team from Maldon, Essex with all three learning plenty and acquitting themselves well at one of the toughest tracks on the calendar.
Jasser, 15, is the youngest member of the Fox line-up and was stepping up from karting for the first time at Silverstone; the Jeddah-based racer looking racy throughout the three contests across a hot and sunny weekend.
He belied his lack of experience to gain places on safety-car restarts in all three races and it was this tenacity that helped him to finish his maiden race inside the Rookie top three on Saturday as he made up two spots on the final lap.
He added to that result with fifth and sixth in the Rookie standings in Sunday’s pair of races – his best overall finish coming in Race Two, when he was 17th.
Team-mate Archie, 19, was the highest-placed Fox driver in qualifying as he put his Tatuus 21st on the grid for his debut race and fifth among the Rookies.
The Cobham, Surrey, driver had been the biggest improver across the two days of official pre-event testing on Thursday and Friday and took that form into the races as he battled hard to make up positions.
Fifth in the Rookie class – and 22nd overall – in a third race that amounted to just four laps after another red flag and restart, was his best result, but Archie was on course for a strong top-15 overall finish and a Rookie top three in Race Two when he was spun around by a rival at Brooklands corner early on.
The aftermath of that spin triggered an incident involving team-mate Enzo that caused the race to be red-flagged and a result declared.
While the South African was an innocent victim in that incident as his right-rear wheel was clipped by a rival, the 16-year-old did gain valuable experience on what was only his second car-racing event.
His best result came in Race One, in which he finished as sixth-best Rookie.
Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “Silverstone is one of the toughest circuits for a driver, and with three car-racing rookies in the team this year, it was always going to be a baptism of fire for them. With all that in mind, I’m proud of what we’ve have achieved first-time out, though it’s clear we need to work on the standing starts with all three drivers as that’s an area where their lack of experience is showing. Jasser’s finished in the Rookie top three on his race debut and had two good top-20 overall results, which will do wonders for his confidence, and Archie’s shown speed in qualifying that’s put him ahead of a handful of much more experienced drivers on the grid. Enzo was unfortunate to be eliminated in Race Two when he was on for a good finish so I think as long as he can put that disappointment behind him, we can be sure of further progress at Oulton Park.”
