The Ascot-based Welshman will contest the Am class of the series for the upgraded Ginetta G56 GTP8, which supports the British GT Championship at all its UK events this year.
The announcement also marks the return to the series of Fox Motorsport; the team from Maldon, Essex, who dominated last year’s championship with Mckenzie Douglass.
James made his race debut in 2024, contesting two rounds of the MSV Track Day Trophy in a Porsche Boxster and finishing second in class at Brands Hatch.
He finished third in class in a one-off race in the Snetterton Saloons Series – also at Brands Hatch – and took part in one Caterham 270R Championship weekend at Silverstone.
For 2025 he steps up to race the Yorkshire-built Ginetta G56 GTP8, which is powered by a 6.2-litre LTR V8 engine and produces 390bhp.
The Ginetta GT Championship starts at Donington Park on April 5-6 and comprises six rounds of between two and three races each across the UK. Donington is also the location of the final round on October 4-5.
James Rolling said: “I’m very excited about the season ahead and can’t wait to add to the couple of days of testing I had at the end of last year. I’ve felt so welcomed into the Fox family ever since Sean Doyle – who’s been coaching me – introduced me to the team. Randomly I’m from the same town in Wales as Mckenzie Douglass, who won this Championship with Fox last year, though I never knew that until recently. The Ginetta feels so much more planted than any of the other racing cars I’ve driven and I think that’s going to be very good for helping build confidence as we go on. I’m a naturally competitive person so of course I want to do well in the Am class, but the main targets are to learn as much as I can and have fun doing it.”
Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “The Ginetta GT Championship provided us with huge success in 2024 as we won it with Mckenzie Douglass, so we’re very pleased to be back with James Rolling, a new driver to the Fox family and to Ginetta racing. James has learned a lot very quickly in the couple of days of testing he’s completed with us so far, but he’s a competitive guy by nature so we know he’ll do whatever he can to develop his driving quickly as possible, get as close to the front of the Am class as possible and keep pushing for ever-better results. We’re looking forward to being a part of that.”
