Racing on the same ultra-demanding 3.7-mile Grand Prix layout that hosts Formula 1 stars like Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and George Russell annually, Holly and Caitlyn were tested like never before, but came through with flying colours.
Having matched her Donington Park qualifying result of 21st, despite the additional demands of the ultra-fast Silverstone track, Chelmsford racer Holly produced three consistent and points-scoring race performances.
Nineteenth on Saturday followed by a career-best-equalling 17th spot on Sunday morning. A safety car-interrupted finale prevented her having the opportunity to climb higher than 18th, but maintained her record of gaining positions in each race held.
Team-mate Caitlyn, who first sampled a go-kart this week one year ago, and raced a car for the first time earlier this month, was another to show consistent progress through the weekend, despite suffering with illness across the weekend.
After suffering a brake-pedal issue in testing, the London-based American qualified 24th to match her own Donington achievement, but did so with less experience of the Silverstone track by comparison.
Across the three races, Caitlyn’s fastest laps closed on those set by the ultimate pace-setters by over one second and helped her to achieve finishes of 24th, 20th and 21st positions; her Race Two result matching her Donington best.
The championship continues at Oulton Park on May 24-26.
Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “It’s been a weekend of progress. Silverstone GP is pretty much the hardest racetrack to master on the calendar because there are so many fast corners, but also because there’s lots of run-off, meaning mistakes aren’t always punished and the rewards for having a precise driving style aren’t as obvious. Both Holly and Caitlyn did well this weekend and have definitely shown progress both in single-lap pace and with racecraft and we expect to see that development continue at Oulton Park.”
