Jasser Iskander claimed a first Rookie victory in the last race of the weekend while team-mates Archie Bullard and Enzo Rujugiro both scored excellent finishes after battling performances.
Donington proved a watershed moment for 2025 Saudi national karting champion Jasser, the 15-year-old from Jeddah who is competing in his first year of car racing.
Qualifying a career-best 10th, he was running comfortably inside the top 10 in Saturday’s opening race when contact at Redgate with a handful of laps to go put him in the gravel with broken suspension.
His Sunday morning race was even more unlucky; Jasser hit from behind under braking for the Melbourne hairpin and sustaining a rear puncture; the instant lack of grip putting him into the path of a rival, with race-ending contact the result.
He more than made up for it later on after starting from pole position in Race Three’s partially-reversed grid, leading initially and defending hard from a glut of vastly more experienced drivers, all keen to make up ground.
Jasser performed strongly, winning the Rookie class in seventh place overall and leading a seven-car train over the line; positions seven to 14 covered by just 2.4 seconds!
Team-mate Archie qualified 13th – his best result to date – and looked to have taken a maiden Rookie top-three result in Race One before he received a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits – and dropped to fourth.
He made good on his promise on Sunday morning though; starting from almost the back of the grid finishing as third-best Rookie in 10th place overall – his first top-10 result.
The 19-year-old from Cobham, Surrey, was just as competitive in the finale, finishing 12th overall and fourth in the Rookies to leave Donington with his highest weekend points total yet.
Enzo, also racing at Donington for the first time, was the best qualifier overall for the team from Maldon, Essex, lining up ninth on the grid and fourth-best Rookie for Saturday’s opener.
The 16-year-old South African was unfortunate to retire with damage twice; in each case caused by contact from a rival driver and most frustratingly in Race Three, when he had started second.
He did, however, produce his best finish of the season in Race Two, putting in a strong and consistent drive to finish fifth-best Rookie and 13th overall.
The next round takes place at Silverstone on August 1-2.
Paul McNeilly, Team Principal: “This has been our best weekend of the season and I’m extremely proud of the progress all three drivers have made. It’s been a milestone weekend for both Jasser and Archie in scoring their first top-10 finishes and for Jasser particularly in finishing as the top Rookie in Race Three and showing just how well he can defend. Enzo’s put himself in the top 10 in qualifying too so we’ve had clear proof that all three drivers are making their way towards the sharp end of the field. I’m pretty confident that we’ll continue to see all three drivers continue this progress at Snetterton and beyond.”
