The all-new Aston Martin, wearing a distinctive dark crimson and pink livery, will break cover on track in testing at Silverstone on Thursday, February 26.
Joe, who will partner James in the GT4 Pro-Am category this year, will contest his fourth season of British GT competition; the 22-year-old having raced in the series since 2022.
He made his competitive debut in the Junior Saloon Car Championship in 2019 and then moved into Ginetta Juniors before graduating to British GT and recording five GT4 Pro-Am podiums through 2023 and ’25, with a race-winning season in between in the McLaren Trophy Europe.
Joe, from Clitheroe, Lancashire, spent two of his British GT campaigns in the same team as James and shared a car with him at the final round of the 2025 series.
He now prepares for his Fox Motorsport debut as the new British GT season gets underway with its longest race, the Silverstone 500, on April 25-26.
Joe Wheeler said: “I can’t wait for the season to start with Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport. I know James well from our time together previously in British GT and with Fox being a proven race-winning British GT team in both GT4 and GT3, I don’t think we could be in a stronger position.”
Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Joe to Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport for the 2026 season. He and James know each other well from having driven in the same British GT team previously so we know already that they have a strong working relationship. We’ll use the time we have pre-season to get both drivers used to the Aston Martin so we can start the season in the strongest position possible.”
